Wakihama Nagisa Park・Samegasaki Cape

Wakihama Nagisa Park・Samegasaki Cape A beautiful beach near the village with a splendid vista

This is the largest sand beach on Hahajima, located just a few minutes away on foot from Oki Port, where the Hahajima-maru docks.

The clarity of the water is slightly low due to the mixture of sand and corals, but there’s plenty of fishes and other sea creatures to enjoy watching.
White tip reef sharks gather in the spring for breeding.

There is an artificial spawning ground for sea turtles at the park entrance, where sea turtles come to lay their eggs between May and July.
Visitors can also see the eggs hatching during July and September.
Please make sure to read and follow the instructions available on the sign board when observing sea turtles.

The stairs in the back of the Wakihama Nagisa Park leads to the Samegasaki Observation Deck.
This is a great spot for watching humpback whales between late January to early May. The sunset can be viewed here from fall to spring.
