Minamizaki Beach・Mt. Kofuji The southernmost Fuji of Japan.　/ An extensively shallow beach with beautiful corals

▼Mt. Kofuji
Pandanus trees and fun palms grow along this public trail from the southernmost top of the Metropolitan road.
About 40 minutes from the entrance, there is a sign indicating Minamizaki on the right and Mt. Kofuji on the left.
It takes about 20 minutes to reach the top of Mt. Kofuji (about 86m) from the sign.
The stairs near the summit are quite steep, and there is a stainless handrail along placed along the steps.

The view of the extending coral reef of Minamizaki is magnificent.
Gannets can be flying around on Katsuodorishima located on the other side during their breeding season between spring and summer.
Every year there are people who climb in the early morning of New Year’s Day to watch the first sunrise in Japan (where people live).

The Hahajima Tourist Association issues a memorial certificate for climbing to the top of Kofuji (300 Yen).
Please apply at the Hahajima Tourist Association desk before climbing if you wish to order one.

▼Minamizaki Beach
Walk for about 40 minutes along the public trail from the southernmost point of the Metropolitan road.
Take a left from where the path splits instead of heading right towards Mt. Kofuji, and in about 5 minutes you will reach Minamizaki Beach, the southernmost beach of Hahajima.
There are table corals that grow within the bay and it is suitable for snorkeling, but the offshore current is very fast so please be careful.
Do not swim past the island (rock).

15 min. by car or 1 hr. on foot (4km) to the southernmost tip of the Metropolitan road (Minamizaki Parking Space)
1 hr. on foot to Mt. Kofuji from Minamizaki Public Trail entrance (20 min. on from Minamizaki trail junction)
45 min. on foot to Minamizaki from Minamizaki Public Trail entrance (5 min. from Minamizaki junction)
